The Government has announced that the National Living Wage and the National Minimum Wage rates will increase from the beginning of April 2021 and that the National Living Wage will now apply to those aged over 23 as opposed to age 25 currently.
The National Living Wage will increase from £8.72 per hour to £8.91 (2.2% increase)
The National Minimum Wage for those aged 21-22 will increase from £8.20 per hour to £8.36 per hour (2.0% increase)
The National Minimum Wage for those aged 18-20 will increase from £6.45 per hour to £6.56 per hour (1.7% increase)
The National Minimum Wage for those aged 16-17 will increase from £4.55 per hour to £4.62 per hour (1.7% increase)
This change could mean that a 23 year old’s minimum salary could increase from £8.20 per hour to £8.91 per hour, which for a 40 hour working week amounts to £28.40 per week.
